Community Health Education and Awareness
In the Barabanki district, the organization is actively imparting essential health education to the rural community. These efforts are funneled through various structured awareness programs designed to foster self-reliance in health management among local residents. To maximize reach and efficacy, targeted campaigns regarding the prevention of infectious diseases—including Dengue, Malaria, and COVID-19—are being conducted in close collaboration with local schools and village-level health workers. Additionally, health education initiatives are seamlessly implemented in strategic coordination with Accredited Social Health Activist (ASHA) workers, Anganwadi workers, and active members of women's self-help groups (SHGs).
Tobacco Control Initiatives
The Barabanki Uttar Pradesh Gramin Seva Sansthan (BUAGSS) is actively raising awareness across multiple community platforms to mitigate tobacco use. Core operations under this intervention include:
- Awareness Campaigns: Conducting widespread campaigns to educate school students, teachers, and healthcare workers on the severe health hazards and ill effects of tobacco usage.
- Capacity Building: Organizing structured training and capacity-building programs for educators, medical staff, women's self-help groups, and civil society organizations regarding Anti-Tobacco Laws and state-specific regulatory enforcement.
- Tobacco-Free Schools: Driving the execution of the official "Tobacco-Free Schools" institutional framework, ensuring robust compliance with legal provisions and direct community accountability.
Rural Health, Education, and Family Planning Services
To systematically elevate health and educational standards in rural regions, the organization has pioneered key childhood immunization drives and maternal health workshops, including focused village-level meetings with mothers and grandmothers. Furthermore, the organization acts as a primary facilitator to extend the reach of the Village Education Committee (VEC) into the broader community, utilizing interactive workshops and grassroots town halls to drive social awareness.
In direct partnership with GHS and Upvan, a comprehensive joint Family Planning Program was successfully executed. Targeted interventions were carried out across 300 vulnerable families spanning five key blocks of the Barabanki district: Banikodar, Dariyabad, Siddhaur, Puredalai, and Sirauli Gauspur. This collaborative effort effectively raised reproductive health awareness and institutionalized family planning services among young newlywed couples.
